AIU offers flexible, dynamic programs that adapt to current trends in business, technology, multimedia communication and artistic design. Whether you are interested in Fashion Design or Digital Media and Design, AIU has a program structured to provide you with high quality instruction, exposure to current technologies in the field and opportunities for professional contacts and experience.

Visual Communications
The Visual Communication program at AIU combines traditional media and interactive technology, offering students the ability to merge their own creativity with the latest technologies, for the highest quality product.

Concentrations in various areas of multimedia allow students to develop their particular strengths and interests. At the same time, the comprehensive program emphasizes the importance of flexibility and diversified skills.

Graphic Design
A concentration in Graphic Design blends design skills such as typography, layout and illustration with advanced technology in computer graphics, imaging and digital production. Students learn to develop concepts and communicate ideas though electronic and digital imaging.

Illustration
In AIU's updated Illustration concentration, students use a variety of techniques to draw or paint in both traditional and electronic media. Students use the latest computer technologies for three-dimensional rendering and real-time animation.

Photography
The Photography concentration educates students to succeed as a commercial photographer. Traditional photo techniques and current digital technology are applied in the program.

Interior Design

Interior Design is a vital, challenging career choice. The interior designer works closely with a broad range of clients to enhance interior spaces, whether the spaces are cozy family kitchens or bright, open offices. The designer may make decisions from the early stages of building construction, right down to the accessories and finishing touches.

The Interior Design program at AIU is taught by industry practitioners and/or qualified educators, and they are structured to give graduates all of the necessary skills and qualifications to step right into successful careers as residential designers, commercial designers, consultants, design specialists and more.

Program Accreditation

The Bachelor's Degree program in Interior Design at AIU Los Angeles is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education (FIDER). This campus is among the only 116 institutions in the United States, to have this accreditation.

Progress to Professionalism
After acquiring a thorough knowledge of interior design fundamentals in the first two years of study, students work on their own design projects. Their most innovative work is showcased in a portfolio and critiqued by faculty and professional designers before presentation to future employers.

AIU students are also encouraged to take advantage of our internship program with top interior design firms and professionals. Faculty and alumni are valuable sources of career guidance, information, mentoring and networking.

Fashion Design

The fast-paced fashion industry is rich in career opportunities for individuals with an eye for color, line and texture, a keen business sense and a bold creative vision. AIU fashion students are on the career track well before they graduate. They create a portfolio highlighting their best work for presentation to employers. Study tours to fashion centers like New York City, Paris and Milan are a great chance to network with the big names in the business. In addition, our students gain valuable experience as interns with designers, manufacturers and fashion houses.

The AIU Fashion Design program helps new designers acquire the necessary skills to develop their personal style. Students also become familiar with the business and marketing side of the apparel industry.

Costume Design
Fashion Design students can specialize in Costume Design, leading to an exciting career in the entertainment industry. Courses in this concentration include historical and contemporary costume design for film, television and stage, as well as theatrical make-up, costume accessories and props.

Marketing Magic
The AIU Fashion Marketing program gives students a firm command of the fashion business, preparing them for leading management roles in fashion and related industries. Students learn advertising techniques, marketing strategies and retail management.

Students may choose to pursue a degree program that combines fashion marketing and design, coupling the advertising, marketing, and retail know-how of the marketer, with the creativity of the designer. This program includes the development of a fashion portfolio.
