About
Brooks College, your gateway to the world of Fashion and Design, is located
in Southern California. Since 1970 Brooks College has been offering
students a viable alternative to a traditional liberal arts education.
Our proven programs in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Interior
Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia, and Animation combine a solid
academic background with practical, hands-on experience. In other
words, at Brooks College, we believe in learning by doing. The mission
of Brooks College is to offer specialized, college-level, career
programs in business, design, and technology. The institution provides
a blend of general education and vocational curricula leading to
an Associate degree and employment opportunities in the workplace.
Next to our students, the strongest attribute of Brooks College
is a dedicated faculty comprised of individuals with first-hand
experience in the fashion and design fields. The Brooks College
faculty includes textile artists, patternmakers, apparel designers,
buyers, marketing directors, consultants, interior designers, graphic
designers, desktop publishers, artists, animators, illustrators,
visual communicators, and many other highly trained professionals.
At Brooks College, you will be trained by people from your chosen
field.
Hollywood, movie stars and Rodeo Drive have all become synonymous
with Southern California. Today, much of the country's trend-setting
fashion and design ideas also start here. Southern California offers
one of the most progressive garment design centers in the world.
The area claims the largest sportswear design center in the United
States, and boasts one of the largest interior design centers in
the country. It is the gateway to the entertainment industry.
Brooks College students can count on an inside look at all of these
places - and a host of others. Classes visit local fashion and furniture
showrooms, manufacturers, retail stores, advertising agencies, visual
communication centers, design studios, special exhibits and museums.
With help from the Brooks College Career Development Office, many
students also find part-time positions related to their particular
fields of study.
Southern California is a land of opportunities. Whether it's time
for work or play, you will never be at loss for things to do - theatres,
art exhibits, concerts, and restaurants and nightclubs offer non-stop
entertainment. As for the weather, it's dry and sub-tropical year
round. Brooks College is located just two miles from the Pacific
Ocean, yet, if you long for fresh mountain air or arid desert sands,
they are only a couple of hours away.
The word that describes Brooks College best is inviting. Here you
will find a 6.5-acre campus with shaded walkways, comfortable gathering
places, a large swimming pool, spacious dining hall and even a barbeque
area. At Brooks College we offer 34,000 square feet of classroom
space, but be assured, we keep classes small. A student-teacher
ratio of a maximum of 25:1 means you will get plenty of personal
attention. When it's time to hit the books, students often head
to the campus library, learning center, or one of the special study
areas located in each residence hall. There are also fully equipped
computer laboratories on campus complete with industry-current hardware
and software. Our residence halls provide much more than a place
to sleep and study. The supervised housing facility is a community
of students with similar goals sharing cultural and educational
interests. The campus has its own security system, including gates
located at the entrances to the facility, television monitors and
a Public Safety staff on duty twenty-four hours a day. As a Brooks
College student, you will enjoy this informal atmosphere for learning
and living. You will meet other men and women who share similar
goals and interests. We encourage you to make the most of college
life.
Our mission at Briarcliffe College is to empower our students to
launch or advance their careers with both the specialized and general
academic knowledge they need to succeed. Briarcliffe College provides
specialized academic programs that integrate theory and practice,
use advanced technologies, and incorporate liberal arts course offerings.
These programs are designed to produce graduates with highly marketable
