History of The International Academy in Canada
The Academy of Design was founded in Toronto in 1983 and is located
in the dynamic centre of Canada's largest city. The International
Academy's Toronto Campus is minutes from the sophisticated flagship
stores and head offices of giant department stores and retail chains,
and adjacent to the world-class designer boutiques of Yorkville,
the Eaton Centre and Bloor Street, Canada's "Fifth Avenue"
of fashion.
Immediately accessible to our students are manufacturer/designer
showrooms with constantly changing product displays. Dozens of annual
trade shows are relevant to our curriculum, and Canada's most extensive
network of resource libraries, museums and galleries is located
in downtown Toronto. This is truly a mecca of information for students
of fashion, interior design, advertising design or computer programs,
with a variety of work-study opportunities second to none.
